On May 29, 2025, a Scientific Workshop on the legal and technical challenges of DeFi, NFTs, and P2P platforms took place at Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) in Madrid. The event was organized by the International Legal Research Center (CIIJ-ICADE) in collaboration with the LegalCripto by BAES Project (Proyecto Prometeo CIPROM/2022/26, Excellence Research Groups, Generalitat Valenciana).
The workshop brought together national and international experts for an interdisciplinary discussion. A special highlight was the presentation by Cyril Chambefort, PhD candidate in Economics at the University Jean Monnet (Saint-Étienne, France) and visiting researcher at ICADE, who delivered a talk titled:
“Decoding Trust: New Rules in Blockchain, Smart Contracts and DAOs Networks”.
His contribution was particularly valuable for offering insights into the legal framework for DeFi in France, a country that maintains a regulated openness towards this sector. Cyril shared how the French approach seeks to encourage innovation while ensuring user protection and addressing systemic risks, providing a comparative perspective to the European debate on the regulation of crypto-assets.
The workshop also covered key topics such as:

The event was an excellent opportunity to deepen the dialogue on the intersection of law, technology, and economics, strengthening collaboration between academia, the private sector, and public authorities.
